MICHELLE FRENCH BATTLES CANCER
MICHELLE
FRENCH -Seattle Sounders
Michelle French was recently diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer known as "Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma" and Schelorsis of the Mediastinum. Seattle fans know "Frenchie" as the talented and competitive midfielder of the USL W-League Starfire Sounders. Before coming to Seattle, Michelle has had one of the most illustrious careers in U.S. soccer history. She was a two-time Parade All-American at Kennedy High School in Burien, Washington. Michelle attended the University of Portland where she was an All-American playing in 3 NCAA Final-Fours. As a Captain, Michelle helped the U-21 U.S. National Team to two titles and a 2nd place finish. She won a silver medal with the 2000 Olympic Team. Her professional career included stints with Washington Freedom (WUSA), San Jose Cyberrays (WUSA) and Seattle Sounders Women (W-League). Finally, Michelle coaches youth soccer with Eastside FC and is an Assistant Coach with the University of Washington Huskies. She is now ready to take on this challenge with the same competitive zeal. Anyone who has been watching her over the years believes she will win this battle too!
